Jessica is an Associate in the Corporate and Commercial Department at Igeria & Ngugi Advocates. She focuses on providing comprehensive corporate and commercial advisory services, including mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, company secretarial services, regulatory and compliance, immigration, and banking and finance.
Jessica’s diverse experience includes a pupillage at the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights, where she honed her skills in drafting constitutional petitions and legal documents and investigating human rights complaints. Her legal career began as a Legal Intern at Igeria & Ngugi Advocates, where she gained exposure to litigation, conveyancing, and corporate law, showcasing her versatility.
Jessica holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Nottingham and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law. She was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in June 2023 and is also a member of the Law Society of Kenya.
Notable Assignments
- Advised an international financial institution on redrafting of contracts related to foreign employees who were to join the institution. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the employees were required to work from their countries of origin and the client required advice on the employment law implications in Kenya.
- Represented a multinational company before the Supreme Court in a matter relating to the award of a tender for the printing and supply new design of the Kenyan currency.
- Conducted industry specific webinars on the impact of Covid-19 on employment relationships in various fields including but not limited to hospitality, agribusiness and a various non governmental organisations.
- Involved in a number of arbitration and mediation proceedings and settlement negotiations with respect to debt restructuring, renewal and termination of leases
