Beatrice Mungai

Beatrice Mungai is an Associate in the Corporate and Commercial Department at Igeria & Ngugi Advocates. She brings a wealth of experience in banking and finance, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance. Her practice areas also include commercial litigation, arbitration, and property law.

Since joining the firm, Beatrice has been instrumental in several high-profile projects. She has advised on major acquisitions, such as a Somali-based commercial bank’s acquisition of a substantial equity stake in a Kenyan bank. Her role also includes structuring corporate financing for large-scale real estate projects and providing legal advisory services for public-private partnership developments.

Beatrice’s background includes significant experience in data protection and privacy law, having worked as a researcher specializing in this area. She routinely provides company secretarial services to various companies, ensuring compliance with the Central Bank Act and other regulatory requirements.

Beatrice holds an LLB (Hons) from Strathmore University and a Diploma from the Kenya School of Law. A member of the Law Society of Kenya, committed to delivering precise and effective legal solutions to her clients.

Notable Assignments

  • Advised an international financial institution on redrafting of contracts related to foreign employees who were to join the institution. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the employees were required to work from their countries of origin and the client required advice on the employment law implications in Kenya.
  • Represented a multinational company before the Supreme Court in a matter relating to the award of a tender for the printing and supply new design of the Kenyan currency.
  • Conducted industry specific webinars on the impact of Covid-19 on employment relationships in various fields including but not limited to hospitality, agribusiness and a various non governmental organisations.
  • Involved in a number of arbitration and mediation proceedings and settlement negotiations with respect to debt restructuring, renewal and termination of leases
