Anne Otieno

Anne is an Associate at Igeria & Ngugi Advocates and is currently on secondment at a financial services organisation. In this role, she is gaining practical experience in managing legal and regulatory matters within the financial services sector, with exposure to compliance and risk-related issues.

She has also been involved in assisting clients on dispute resolution matters, supporting the litigation team in litigation-related proceedings.

Anne holds a Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) degree from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree from the University of Nairobi. She further obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law.

She was admitted as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya in 2024 and is a member of the Law Society of Kenya.

Notable Assignments

  • Advised an international financial institution on redrafting of contracts related to foreign employees who were to join the institution. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the employees were required to work from their countries of origin and the client required advice on the employment law implications in Kenya.
  • Represented a multinational company before the Supreme Court in a matter relating to the award of a tender for the printing and supply new design of the Kenyan currency.
  • Conducted industry specific webinars on the impact of Covid-19 on employment relationships in various fields including but not limited to hospitality, agribusiness and a various non governmental organisations.
  • Involved in a number of arbitration and mediation proceedings and settlement negotiations with respect to debt restructuring, renewal and termination of leases
